  • June Healthy Tip

This Healthy Tip is provided by the Hope Area Healthy Communities Committee.

In the summer heat nothing can be more satisfying than a refreshing drink.
Let's not turn to sugary soda or sports drinks, but rather, try healthier options:

    • Try drinking plenty of calorie free water.  It is good for your body in so many ways.
    • Drink nutrient rich fat free milk. Besides healthy bones it helps build muscle mass and lowers risk of high blood pressure.
    • Drink no more than 4 to 6 ounces of 100% juice or vegetable juice a day.
    • Watch out for soft drinks, sweet tea, fruit drinks, and sports drinks.  They are loaded with calories and caffeine.
    • Fancy coffees are high in calories, fat, and sugars.

Think healthy when reaching for that summer drink and move more every day, everywhere.

    Happy summer!
