HEAD CHECKS AND LICE
Head checks are done periodically throughout the school year. In addition parents may call to have their own child(ren)'s head checked for lice.
If a student is found to have head lice, the parent/guardian will be called and must pick up their child within one hour.
Students who have head lice are excluded from school and will have to be treated. An excused absence of 48 hours is allowed for effective treatment.
Upon returning to school, the nurse must check the student before he/she will be able to return to class. The parent/guardian must accompany the student to school that day and wait until the nurse has re-checked the student's head. Once the student has been cleared by the nurse he/she will be re-evaluated once a week for several weeks.
